Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (454 g) lean ground beef
- 15 ounces (425 g) Manwich Original brand Sloppy Joe sauce
- 10 ounces (283 g) frozen garlic bread loaf (Pepperidge Farms), thawed
- 2 cups (226 g) shredded Colby jack cheese
- 1/2 cup (75 g) finely chopped yellow onion
- 1 tbsp (14 g) unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) salt
- 1/4 tsp (1.25 g) ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp (4 g) freshly chopped parsley (optional for garnishing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Remove the garlic bread from the freezer to thaw while preparing the meat mixture.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt butter. Sauté onions until translucent and soft.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, browning thoroughly for 5-6 minutes until no pink remains. Drain excess fat.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and stir in Sloppy Joe sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Carefully separate the garlic bread loaf into two sections and place on the prepared baking sheet, buttered side up.
- Distribute the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly across both bread sections.
- Sprinkle Colby jack cheese generously over the meat-covered bread.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until cheese melts completely and becomes bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing into 2-inch segments. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Experiment with different cheese varieties like mozzarella, cheddar, or pepper jack to customize flavor profiles and suit personal preferences.
- Replace ground beef with ground turkey, plant-based crumbles, or lentils for a lighter or vegetarian version that maintains delicious taste and texture.
- Adjust heat by selecting mild or spicy Sloppy Joe sauce, or add red pepper flakes for extra kick without overwhelming the garlic bread base.
- Use fresh bakery bread or homemade garlic bread for elevated taste and texture if frozen version isn’t available or desired.
